TROVET Hypoallergenic (Insect)

Now also available for cats

TROVET introduces hypoallergenic dietary food based on insects for cats: Hypoallergenic (Insect) | IRD.

Food hypersensitivity is a major cause of gastrointestinal and skin problems in cats. The majority is caused by animal proteins, of which beef and chicken are the most important. By offering a new protein source, a hypersensitivity reaction may be prevented. Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae are the protein source In Hypoallergenic (Insect). In Europe, there are no food products for cats in which protein from these insects in used. This makes the chance very small that a cat has already developed an allergy.

When an animal, for example, has a chicken protein allergy, there is the possibility that this animal will also have adverse reactions when turkey or quail is ingested. The closer two animal species are related, the larger the chance of an allergic cross-reaction. An allergic cross-reaction between protein from vertebrates and invertebrates is not possible.

The insects used in Hypoallergenic (Insect) are a sustainable protein source. Black Soldier Fly larvae naturally live together in great numbers and are able to consume a large variety of organic products. This makes BSF larvae ideal for large scale conversion of (low quality) plant material to (high quality) animal protein and oil products.

Hypoallergenic (Insect) for cats is available via your veterinarian in 500g and 3 kg packaging. See the product page for more information.
